Capitol Hill Visits

Be the Voice of the Engineering Industry on Capitol Hill

A core feature of the ACEC Annual Convention & Legislative Summit is our impactful lobbying program, where hundreds of ACEC “citizen lobbyists” head to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers and advocate for our industry’s top priorities.

This year’s Convention comes at a critical moment in Washington. Congress is actively developing legislation that will shape the future of tax policy, immigration, infrastructure, and workforce development. Your voice is needed now more than ever to ensure the engineering industry is front and center in these discussions.

As a citizen lobbyist, you'll have the opportunity to:
    • Advocate for the extension of pro-growth tax policies that help firms expand, invest, and recruit top talent
    • Push for a fix to the R&D tax glitch and restore full deductibility of research expenses
    • Support increased, sustainable funding for surface transportation programs and promote smarter project delivery, including greater use of lump-sum contracts by State DOTs
    • Champion solutions to the workforce shortage, including expanded access to H-1B visas
    • Address disruptions in federal programs and agency operations that are impacting firms across multiple markets

Join us in Washington, D.C., and help shape the future of the profession. This is your moment to lead. Let’s make it count

How to Engage

ACEC’s Advocacy staff are here to help you every step of the way – please let us know if you have any questions or if we can do anything to help you get started.

CONTACT YOUR ACEC STATE EXECUTIVE

Lobbying visits are typically coordinated through the ACEC State Organizations, so members are strongly encouraged to reach out to the ACEC State Executive in their home state to learn more and participate.

START SCHEDULING HILL MEETINGS

For ACEC members making their own appointments with their congressional delegation, use the meeting request form and refer to the contact information for each office. Email the request to the Chief of Staff and Scheduler—note they may not confirm a meeting time until closer to the Convention (but it helps to request early).

ATTEND OUR VIRTUAL BRIEFING

A virtual briefing on key lobbying issues will be held Wednesday, May 14th at 1:30 pm ET. Registration details are coming soon, and all convention registrants are welcome. An on-site overview will also take place during the general session on Monday, May 19th at 11:45 am.
