Mark Van Elden

ACEC Life/Health Trust
Mark Van Elden is the President and CEO of the ACEC Life/Health Trust, an Association Health Plan that has been providing employee benefits to ACEC member firms for over 60 years. The Trust is governed by a board of trustees who are principles of ACEC member firms.
Mark is a Certified Public Accountant with an 18 year career working in non-profit health insurance companies. Prior to the Trust, he was the Chief Financial Officer of a large regional health insurance company in Houston, Texas and spent six years as a board member and Finance Committee Chair of a non-profit Healthcare facility providing critical healthcare to an underserved population in Houston, Texas.
Mark is passionate about transforming the current employer-based health insurance system. During his time at the Trust, the it has consistently renewed over 90 percent of the groups participating in the Trust, kept premiums below national trends, and implemented pilot programs seeking ways to lower costs and improve quality for ACEC member firms.
